Law enforcement officials throughout the state of Texas are cracking down on drunk driving in a campaign called ‘Drink, Drive, Got to Jail.’

Increased police patrol will begin on August 19 and run through Labor Day, September 5. Officers will be on the streets looking for impaired drivers. Officials have stated that there is a “zero tolerance” policy for drunk driving and if a driver is found impaired they will be going to jail.

In 2010, there were 25,032 alcohol-related crashes in Texas. Police are working to cut this number down drastically. Officials suggest calling a cab, asking a friend for a ride, or making sure that the keys are in the hands of a designated, sober driver.
