Sandusky child sex abuse begins trial this week

The child sex abuse case for Joe Sandusky began this week in Pennsylvania. The former Penn State assistant coach arrived at the courthouse with his defense attorney on Monday morning.

The high-profile sex scandal caused Joe Paterno, a legend at Penn State, to also lose his job. Sandusky is charged with 52 criminal counts of sexual abuse for allegedly abusing 10 boys over a 15 year time span. Many of these alleged victims are going to testify in the trial.

Longhorn player suspended after assault arrest

A University of Texas Longhorn football player was arrested for a Class A misdemeanor assault with bodily injury charge on Monday.

Christian Scott, a safety for the football team, was suspended as a result of the arrest. Police were called the 300 block of East Yager Lane at 1 p.m. on Monday and Scott was arrested and taken to Travis County Jail.

Head Coach Mack Brown announced that the decision to suspend Scott was made after talking to his family and athletic officials. After the legal process is complete, a decision will be made about Scott according to what is best for him and the university. Scott started in 10 games last season.
