2 sentenced to jail terms in East Texas crime ring case

Dustin Kyle Garcia and Christopher Lee Chambers both pleaded guilty on Thursday, November 10 to charges of engaging in organized criminal activity.

In a statement released on Monday, November 14, the Hopkins County District Attorney’s Office in Texas said, “In November 2015, Garcia and Chambers stole approximately $80,000 worth of All-Terrain Vehicles from Nortex Tractor in Sulphur Springs. Another co-defendant, whose case is still pending, also participated directly in the theft.”

According to investigations by detectives, to carry out the burglary from Sulphur Springs, Garcia and Chambers hotwired a U-Haul truck in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area and stole three all-terrain vehicles in two trips. A detective with the Fort Worth Police gang intelligence unit said Garcia is a member of the criminal street gang “Tango Blast.” He was formerly convicted of multiple felonies, such as aiding and abetting others in interstate commerce of monies in excess of $5,000; two counts of burglary of a building; engaging in organized crime; and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
