Man shoots Waffle House robber

A man shot a robber armed with an AK-47 after the Waffle House where he was eating was robbed. The crime occurred at the restaurant along Interstate 35 in DeSoto on Thursday, July 7 around 2:30 a.m. Police are not charging the shooter with a crime.

According to police officers, the robber, identified as 26-year-old Antoine Cooper, came into the restaurant carrying an AK-47 with a large capacity magazine. He was wearing a hoodie and proceeded to rob several customers. All customers complied, but after the robber left the building, one restaurant patron followed Cooper out of Waffle House and shot him with his personal handgun. The case, including the robbery and the subsequent shooting, will be referred to a grand jury, Dallas County prosecutors said.
