Texas prosecutors dismiss DUI charge against Walmart Heiress

Texas prosecutors have dismissed the 2011 DUI charge against Alice Walton, billionaire heiress to the Walmart empire, on Monday, September 9. According to information Parker County Prosecutor John Forest gave to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the dismissal of the case was based on the arresting Texas Highway Patrol officer’s suspension for misconduct and his inability to testify on a pre-arranged date for the trial.

Police records show that Walton was on her way home after having dinner with friends in honor of her 62nd birthday at a Fort Worth restaurant when she was pulled over by a Department of Public Safety trooper in violation of a speed limit imposed on a construction zone in Interstate 20 Parker County Texas.

During a field sobriety test, it was determined that she was intoxicated with alcohol; however, she refused a breathalyzer test, as recounted by Senior trooper Gary Rozzell to the  Weatherford Democrat.

Walton was released shortly on a $1,000 bail from the Parker County Jail.
