Army sergeant facing sexual assault charges

Another incident of sexual assault was reported to have been committed by a member of the U.S. military.

According to a Defense Department official, the army sergeant first class, whose name and gender wasn’t disclosed for security reasons, has been suspended from all military duties and is now under investigation for alleged sexual assault charges.

Charges are yet to be filed against the sergeant who was assigned to work at a sexual assault prevention program in Fort Hood, Texas. Special agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command took over the ongoing investigation on Wednesday May 15.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, who was deeply upset about the incident, ordered a complete overhaul of the army’s sexual assault prevention program, including all personnel involved.
