Domestic violence registry proposed for Texas

A Texas State Representative has proposed a domestic violence registry for the state of Texas. The registry would work the same as the sex offender registry does in most states.

People who have been convicted of domestic violence more than three times will be compelled to register as a repeat offender. The registry would include the name, picture and death of birth of the offender.

The idea behind the registry is so women can look up potential partners to see if they have any history of domestic violence. According to statistics, nearly one our of every four woman has been the victim of domestic violence and this registry would be a way for the woman to be warned before entering a potentially dangerous relationship.

If you or a loved one has been wrongfully charged with domestic violence, contact the Dallas domestic abuse lawyers of the law office of Mark T. Lassiter by calling (214) 845-7007 today.
