South Texas law enforcement agencies are teaming up in order to try and change the policy of domestic violence cases.

It can take almost a year from when police respond to a domestic violence call to when the case makes it to court. During such a long period of time, people move and change their contact information and it becomes really hard to get in touch with the victims.

The police department in Corpus Christi along with the district attorney’s office are hoping that they can change this by having a counselor stay in touch with the victim and help them find the resources that they will need during this difficult time.

Also, a one-hour class on the cycle of abuse has become mandatory if a victim wants to drop the charges. This is done in order for the victim to make sure that they are making the right choice.

If you or a loved one has been charged with domestic violence, you need experienced representation on your side. Contact the Dallas domestic abuse lawyers of the Law Office of Mark T. Lassiter today by calling 214-845-7007 today.

Over the fourth of July weekend, a detective from Harlingen was arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident.

Investigators believe that the man became angry when he found out that his sons did not want to move back to Texas and live with him. According to the 39-year-old man’s wife, his sons do not want to live with him because of his abusive tendencies and drinking problem.

His wife also told officials that the man started punching home appliances and threatened to kill his wife and himself. The wife also said that the man was yelling that he would not go down without a fight after the authorities were called. Authorities found the man’s department-issued gun and seized it.
