Football player arrested for assualt in Texas

Cedric Benson, a football player for the Cincinnati Bengals, was arrested for assault, according to officials.

Benson was arrested for assault after an altercation at a bar on May 30. The incident happened around 1:50 a.m. inside of a bar in Austin. Then, when Benson was being escorted out by a bar employee, he allegedly punched the employee in the face and spit on him. If convicted, Benson could face up to a a year in jail for the Class A misdemeanor.

Judge charged with hitting girlfriend

A probable cause court magistrate has recently been put on unpaid leave after being accused of hitting a woman that he was dating. He has been charged with family violence and is free on $1,500 bail.

The 52-year-old man was arrested in late April on charges of assault of a family member, a Class A misdemeanor. If found guilty he could serve up to a year in prison.

The man is one of the five people who hears cases in the probably cause court. A committee of state district judges voted to put the man on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the case.
