APD arrests 91 for drunk driving over Memorial Day weekend

The Austin Police Department announced that they arrested 91 people for drunk driving over the no-refusal Memorial Day holiday weekend.

This number was an increase from last year when 52 people were arrested. The breakdown of arrests included 48 who gave breath samples, 44 who gave blood samples, and 36 who refused both.

One person was arrested for boating while intoxicated and the highest blood alcohol level that was recorded was at a .34. Officials with the police department made this statement after the arrests were made, “The department is dedicated to making the roadways of Austin safe for residents and visitors through education and enforcement.”
