Man sentenced to 55 years after 8th DWI

A Dallas man has now been sentenced to 55 years in prison after receiving his 8th drunk driving charge.

According to court records, the 54-year-old man was sentenced to 55 years in prison last week while on trialĀ  for his eighth driving while intoxicated charge. Officials are hoping that the man’s jail sentence will help to deter drivers from being on the roadway after drinking.

The man was arrested for this charge on January 7, 2011 when another driver reported him to police for driving recklessly on the roadway. Once pulled over, the man showed signs of intoxication and an open beer can was found in the back seat.
