Man receives over 7 years for weapons charge

A South Texas man has recently been sentenced to 7 and a half years in prison after attempting to smuggle guns into Mexico.

It is thought that the 16 firearms that he was smuggling were meant to be delivered to the Zetas drug cartel and the manĀ  pleadĀ  guilty to the charge in June.

The man was captured by police while he was allegedly transporting the weapons after they were given a tip. The 35-year-old man will now serve jail time for the charge.
