Longhorn player suspended after assault arrest

A University of Texas Longhorn football player was arrested for a Class A misdemeanor assault with bodily injury charge on Monday.

Christian Scott, a safety for the football team, was suspended as a result of the arrest. Police were called the 300 block of East Yager Lane at 1 p.m. on Monday and Scott was arrested and taken to Travis County Jail.

Head Coach Mack Brown announced that the decision to suspend Scott was made after talking to his family and athletic officials. After the legal process is complete, a decision will be made about Scott according to what is best for him and the university. Scott started in 10 games last season.
