45 arrested for DWIs in Dallas over ‘No Refusal’ weekend

Last weekend, police departments across the state participated in Texas’s first-ever “No Refusal” drunk driving initiative. ¬†The campaign began at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 1 and lasted until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5.

Over the weekend, drivers pulled over and suspected of drunk driving were not allowed to refuse a blood alcohol content test.  Officers used warrants to obtain blood samples from drivers that would not voluntarily give a sample or submit to a breath test.

In the Dallas area, 45 people were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
