DNA evidence clears man of sexual assault charge after 26 years in prison

New DNA evidence has cleared a Dallas man of sexual assault charges after he spent 26 years in prison.

The man was convicted in 1987 of aggravated sexual assault when he was picked out of a lineup by two teenagers as the man responsible for tying them up and raping them at gunpoint.

Dallas County has exonerated 22 people, more than any other county because they save more evidence. Legislation in Austin right now is working to fix these issues so that no one else is wrongly accused. One way to do this is to reform eye-witness identification.

If you or a loved one has been charged with a serious crime, these charges could change your life. Contact the Dallas rape and sexual assault defense lawyers of the law office of Mark T. Lassiter by calling (214) 845-7007 today.
