Dallas Teen Convicted of Capital Murder

A thirteen year-old Dallas boy was recently convicted of capital murder and sentenced to at least ten years in prison after he reached a deal with prosecutors.

The boy, along with his twelve year-old girlfriend at the time, shot the girl’s mother and stepfather to death in August. Prior to his sentencing, the boy was placed in various juvenile detention centers around the state of Texas. Though the full details of the boy’s sentencing have not been made public, he was facing a forty-year maximum sentence but will probably serve much less time than that. He will be placed in the adult prison system at nineteen years-old.

The girl involved in the murder received an extension on her trial, and her case will be heard in March.
