Police have suspect in pickup truck theft case

A man who is accused of stealing a pickup truck at knife point in Fort Worth is also associated with other theft cases in the area, according to police officials.

The 46-year-old man is the of suspect in carjacking, attempted carjacking and purse snatching for incidents that happened in Fort Worth. He is also a suspect in cases that occurred in Dallas, including the robbery of a 77-year-old, four other robberies and two carjackings.

The man was arrested after a Dallas Police officer followed him in a pursuit that ended at the Love Field runway. The police officer rammed his car into the stolen truck that the man was driving in order for him to stop.

Dallas police use cab/police car to prevent drunken drivers

Dallas police are using a car that is half-cop car and half-cab to push their campaign to prevent people from drinking and driving.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s campaign is called “Drink. Drive. Go to Jail” and it uses the car that is a patrol car in the front and a cab in the back to let people know that if you drink, you will either be taking a cab home or you will be riding in the back of a cop car.

Billboards in the area state ‘choose your ride.’ Austin and Fort Worth are also using these vehicle to help prove their point. Between this Friday and Sept. 6 law enforcement officials will be working to overtime in order to catch impaired drivers that are on the roadway because the Labor Day weekend is a heavy drinking weekend.

Woman arrested on drug charges, found by police through text messages

A Texas woman was charged with drug charges after she was sending text messages to who she thought was a drug customer but was really a police officer.

The woman thought that she was scheduling a meeting with a customer in West Gentry Parkway, the woman had put the wrong number in her phone and began texting the officer instead. The police officer began to text the woman back and acted as if he wanted to buy marijuana from her.

The woman then told the officer where to meet and what car she would be in. The officer watched the woman in the parking lot and then pulled her over as she left the parking lot acting as if it was a routine traffic stop. Deputies than found marijuana in the vehicle. She was then charged and taken to jail.

Texas man charged with bank robbery

A 49-year-old man from Mohave County was charged with robbing a bank and was indicted last week.

The jury indicted the man with misdemeanor theft and armed robbery. He is currently being held in the county jail on a $250,000 bond and he will be arraigned on August 9. If convicted, the man faces up to 12 and a half years in prison.

The man is charged with robbing the Wells Fargo bank after giving the bank teller a note to give him money and made it known to her that he had a gun. The amount of money that he left with was not reported, but police officials later caught the man and arrested him.

Jailer for Dallas County arrested for DWI

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Jailer was arrested fro drunken driving and charged with a DWI.

The man was arrested after someone called the police when he fell asleep in the drive-through lane of Jack in the Box. Police found him pulled over on the side of the road near the restaurant. The man works as an intake for the county jail, which means he processes people who are being booked into jail.

The Sheriff’s Department will be conducting an internal investigation, but the man was back at work the following work day after the arrest.
